High Toxic Level Found in Some N.E. Wells

In the most extensive study yet of groundwater in New England, federal scientists have found potentially harmful levels of naturally occurring arsenic, uranium, radon, and other contaminants in water supplying wells across the region. The study released this week by the US Geological Survey found that arsenic exceeded federal safety standards for public drinking water at 13 percent of the nearly 5,000 sites tested ? nearly double the national rate.
