Heavy Metals via ANDalyze

Heavy Metals

Heavy metal is a broad term used to describe a group of naturally occurring metallic elements, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. Heavy metals are non-biodegradable in nature and may accumulate inside the human body. Most heavy metals are extremely toxic which create various health-related problems. As an example, lead contaminated products from industrial cables and piping can cause heavy metal poisoning. Heavy metal analysis generally involves expensive, complex instrumentation (AA, ICP-MS, ICP-OES), highly trained operators, time intensive sample preparation and comprehensive data interpretation. ANDalyze fluorometer is a handheld instrument that offers quick, accurate, economical and user-friendly heavy metal detection utilizing DNA sensing technology.

What is "ANDalyze"?

ANDalyze, an Alpha Measurement Solutions brand, developed proprietary catalytic DNA sensors for heavy metal detection. These DNA sensors will generate the fluorescence through the DNAzyme reaction in the presence of the target heavy metal. The fluorescence will be measured by the specially designed ANDalyze fluorometer and the concentration of the target heavy metal will be reported in trace levels. Comparing with mainstream technologies, DNA sensing allows on-site measurement to reduce time, cost, and effort. This technique can deliver US EPA validated testing capabilities to low ppb levels within regulatory limits.

EPA Verified and What Does ANDalyze Measure:

ANDalyze technology has been extensively benchmarked against industry standard spectral methods within the USEPA’s Environmental Technology Verification Program (ETV) in a full range of water types including drinking, environmental, and wastewater effluent.  The US EPA issued a report on the evaluation testing that concludes ANDalyze DNAzyme products provide a valid water quality measurement alternative for certain applications, such as lead measurement in drinking water at the point of use. The technology can be utilized for a wide variety of parameters listed below:

How to Use ANDalyze:

Inject 1 milliliter water sample through the sensor and into the fluorometer. Results are reported in less than one minute at a fraction of the cost and time of other methods. There is minimal waste, no harmful reagents, or special disposal requirements.
